Update for Honors Algebra 1B
Due to the sequential nature of high school courses, students are going to need to gain credit for Honors Algebra 1B. No student will be advancing to Honors Geometry until they have received credit for Honors Algebra 1B.
To help students gain credit in a simple online format, we have created a credit/no credit online option for students. The course will begin on Monday, April 13th.
What will the online course be like?
What if you can't/don't want to do the online course?
What are my next steps?
What should I do if I would like to take the online course?
I am sure you have questions and concerns that are not addressed here. Please feel free to email me anytime if you need anything! If you would like to participate in the online class but you are in need of any technology/wifi supports, please let me know that. There is a lot we can do to help!
I miss you all and can't wait to hear from you. I'm looking forward to starting this adventure together.
To help students gain credit in a simple online format, we have created a credit/no credit online option for students. The course will begin on Monday, April 13th.
What will the online course be like?
- It will be in Google Classroom.
- I will post a notes video every day.
- You will be assigned 10-15 homework problems each day. You will check your own work.
- You will need to upload a picture of your completed homework assignment.
- There will be a short quiz every 3-5 sections. You need to get 60% or higher on the quiz.
- Quizzes can be retaken.
- There will be no tests.
- There might be a final exam, but we don't know for sure yet.
- It will not be for a grade. You will simply receive credit so that you can move on to Honors Geometry in the fall.
- I will be available for "virtual help" at least 1 hour weekly through Google Meet or Zoom.
What if you can't/don't want to do the online course?
- You don't have to! It is not required. But it is recommended as the EASIEST way to gain credit for the class.
- If you are unable to take the class, that's okay!
- However, you will still need to gain credit for Honors Algebra 1B in some way.
- This means you will need to take Honors Algebra 1B in the fall and you will not move on to Honors Geometry until you take the class.
- You could also try a test-out test (but I do not recommend this option as it will require a lot of independent learning and studying)
- Please realize that nobody is moving to Honors Geometry until they receive credit for Honors Algebra 1B.
What are my next steps?
- Take the weekend to think this over.
- Please take my survey. (Only one per person. Parent survey here. Student survey here.)
What should I do if I would like to take the online course?
- Please join my Google Classroom here (code: rf65aei)
- Find your textbook. You will need it. :)
- Download an online graphing calculator for free here.
